Passo a reproduir part d'un article signat pel prestigiós periodista anglès Matthew Parris i publicat al The Times britànic ara fa dues setmanes. La part que aquí reprodueixo és la part de l'article recollida i editada pel i al setmanari The Week (p.11, 6 January, 2007). Matthew Parris és un periodista polític de renom, conservador, i proper al Partit Conservador. Tot i així gaudeix d'un respecte especial dins el món periodístic. No entraré a valorar l'article. Només el penjo perquè crec que és interessant per diversos motius, independentment que hom pugui estar o no d'acord amb en Mr. Parris. Tampoc no passo a valorar els autèntics amagats darrera l'article.

The people of this autonomous region of northeast Spain are conservative by instinct, yet the centre Right no longer has any influence here, because it has turned its back on the reality of Catalan nationhood.
